What Are COVID Toes?

While coronavirus patients most commonly have a fever, cough, or shortness of breath, “COVID toes” are another potential sign of a coronavirus infection.  COVID toes, which can also be found in fingers, can manifest as swollen spots, or purplish discolorations.  Some people also experience blisters, itching, pain, raised bumps, rough skin or pus-filled areas under the skin.

COVID toes can affect any age group and it is possible that this is the only sign of a coronavirus infection.

Hydrocortisone cream can be applied to reduce pain or itching, but if the condition worsens contact your podiatrist.   While most symptoms associated with this condition last for 12 days on average, some patients have symptoms for months.
